The Refugee.Info platform provides timely, accurate, and useful information to refugees in Europe. The team hails from around Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, Africa, and the Americas, made up of nearly 60% asylum-seekers and refugees.
I worked on this project as the lead product designer at the IRC alongside partners from Google and MercyCorps.
During the research phase, our field research team gathered a wide range of accessibility requirements such as supporting six languages both in RTL and LTR.
Providing accessible and reliable information to groups of people who have received less attention by technology makers over the years has been one of the main accessibility challenges on this project.
Finding the right fonts and designing for both RLT and LTR content took a great deal of User empathy and research efforts to be able to deliver an inclusive experience for all of our end users.
Designing for people on the move who are fleeing danger and want access to trustworthy information is one of my main goals as the lead product designer on refugee.info, i got to wear different hats and work closely with engineers, project managers and humanitarians to deliver and maintain a seamless experience.
